| Welcome to ASCTFL.net, the home of the Australian Soldat Community. As a new user, you're probably wondering where on earth to start amongst all this new information. Not to worry, this welcome message is designed to get you up and running in competitive Soldat in no time, and quickly and easily get you playing amongst other Soldat players who want to get to know you. Firstly, there are a few things you should know about the community. The first, is that competitive Soldat is quite a step up from public servers. The transition may be slow, but don't give up. Try to find some friends, get talking to people and look for clans who are willing to help you out. Secondly, just like any community, there is a wide range of people. There are plenty of people who are friendly and helpful, but just like real life, there can be some real jerks. My advice to you is to keep your head down and don't let what people say affect you. If you can brush off a bit of criticism and keep ploughing ahead, you will become a much better player for the experience. Alright, enough talking, it's time to get you up and running in the community. The first thing you should do after registering for the forums is to introduce yourself to everyone. Try posting in this thread, and give everyone an idea of who you are. Next, it's time to get yourself accustomed to the gather system. Aus.gather is run on IRC, (Internet Relay Chat) and so you'll need to set up a program known as mIRC to allow you to connect with the community. Follow this guide in order to get set up and onto the community gather channel. Registering for the stats system is entirely optional, and you can set this up at any time. Warning: Make sure you read the aus.gather rules before you start. Gathers are designed to imitate the action of competitive clan warring, except without needing to be in a clan, and with mixed players. The bot will randomly assign you to a team of 3, and the objective is to beat the other randomly assigned team. Gathers will help you to understand the 3v3 format of competitive warring, and will help you meet people in the Australian Soldat community. Eventually, you may want to try to join a clan, once you feel you have the hang of gathers, and can hold your own. Reading ASCTFL.net regularly will help you keep up to date with clan and community events. Once you have a clan, you may want to enter tournaments, run by our very own asctfl.net team, or maybe your clan will want to participate in the GameArena Soldat ladder. Whatever you do, I wish you luck in your journey into the competitive Australian Soldat scene. Have fun! :) |

| As many people may have noticed, I've been developing this new site for ASCTFL over the past few weeks. I know I've put in a solid amount of time (60+ hours), but I thought I'd quickly take the time to thank the other people who contributed to the development of this site. -Spiltcoffee - For his original ladder and help with various aspects I had difficulty with -Raph - For his incredibly sexy forum icons which I know he put a lot of effort into -Bernadinho - For his forum banner which fits with the template so well. -Kestas - For paying for all the server bills and giving us a host for the site Hopefully everyone appreciates the effort the entire team (i.e. me, not Bling) put into making this site |
